Are YOU on the Calendar for 2021?

I have done some major unplugged vegging out the past week with little bursts of work here and there. And while that's been great, it's not true reality. And I'm guessing that won't work long term for you either.

OK. You got your beautiful new planner (I am totally in love with my digital sidekick btw) and you are anticipating this new year. I want to know — Have you thought to yourself “AM I on the calendar?” Have you put something for yourself on the calendar each day?

Let me tell you. I used to struggle with the guilt of stopping work to play with my kids. Or take a walk. Or have LUNCH. Crazy, right?

So, what is the balance or great magical schedule? Well, my schedule won't work for you. I don't have the special formula that is for everyone, in fact, what works for me has less to do with my schedule than my perspective.

You see, in order to feel ok with watching Ice Age with my youngest this afternoon (and not think about all the things not getting done or worse working while pretending to spend time with my snuggle bear), I have to focus on the really important things first. It will be ok if things take longer or need to shift to another day.

Number 1: I delegate. (SHOCK, I know) It's not helpful to anyone for me to do everything in my business. And no successful business has just one person. This is the only way I can help the clients we love and love on my family.

Number 2: There are three things scheduled every day that I am working:

  • Client work - there's still quite a bit that I do support my clients with but the majority is project management and strategy

  • Check-in with my team (we use ClickUp and some of our clients have linked us to Asana)

  • Spend at least half an hour on sales and marketing

Don't get overwhelmed — I'm a nerd and have everything color coded, but here is what that looks like:

In between those must do activities, I also literally schedule my self care and ME time. It’s just as important! I have workouts planned, lunch blocked off, and just free time to step away from the screen.

So, where is your time being spent?
