There's another social media platform??
There's a a lot of chatter around a new social platform called Clubhouse, which really is a great platform to host and attend intimate conversations on a variety of topics.
Its "invitation only" set up is definitely fanning the flames of FOMO — fear of missing out — and the mystery of being an exclusive platform.
I do think it can be a great opportunity for building authority in your area of expertise. Just as TikTok has worked for others.
Even though I desire to minimize FOMO in my business approach as much as possible, I have to admit, Clubhouse's design is pretty much marketing brilliance.
But, let me tell you how I felt when I first learned about Clubhouse...
Me: "Oh no, now there's another platform I have to learn and manage?! I don't have time for that!"
Did you feel the same way?
If so, here's what I want to tell you today:
You have permission to commit to just one social platform.
Yes, just one.
Choose the platform that you prefer — the one you really enjoy, or the one that truly makes the most sense for your business, and go all in there.
Don't worry, there is plenty of business to be done using one platform, and if you desire to streamline your business then make decisions around your time that allow you to do that. And that could mean choosing only one social media medium, bypassing the others, and sticking to it.
Now, I'm not saying don't check out Clubhouse or any other new shiny thing that comes into play.
What I am saying is, stay focused on your goals, and don't let new trends start stealing away your time and energy.
If you only want to be great on one social platform, then just do that. And when you've grown to the point where you can begin to delegate tasks and explore additional marketing options, an additional platform may make sense... or maybe not.
Maybe Clubhouse is exactly what your business needs right now. Or maybe, what you really need is to stick to your original plan of action and see it through.
Protect your time and energy, and know you're not missing out if you're not on everything.
It's your choice.
