Guest Blog : Why I HAD to sign up for this
This event is getting me SO excited! I asked Anastasia (from the Bright Moments team) to write a guest blog about it to share with you. — Melanie
I have recently changed the footer in my email to include a little pop up that says:

This may seem like an odd “National Day” to have to sign up for, but then I look at my lifestyle. I am a Work From Home Mama with an amazing tyrannosaurus 3 year old and a kick-butt passion for serving others and seeing them flourish. That sentence has soo much complexity that it may define my why right there but it doesn't.
I love being a wife. I love being a mom.
These two items alone are pretty time extensive. Then we add the fact that I LOVE being a project manager and this is not a cake walk job. I have amazing clients who are flexible with the fact that they receive my completed work between the hours of 8 PM and 2 AM most days. I yield meetings and quick replies throughout the day as I sit in a cloud of chalk on my back porch or am chasing a toddler to the toilet.
The cool thing about the flexibility I receive, I also give to my clients — they are wives, moms, working extra jobs, running courses or meetings themselves. We are all running hard and barely take time to breathe. We are all trying to do the best for our families and our businesses, but most of the time neglect ourselves.
This is why I had to sign up for the National Day of Unplugging. I have been following them for a few years now with goals of remembering to do it but not going through with it. This year, I requested the phone bag, I put the banner in my email, I have put it in my calendar, I have put it on the team calendar — now I just need to get to March 4.
I want to encourage you to do the same. Make the commitment to logging off your computer, putting your phone aside, and opting to Face to Face time over FaceTime or Netflix.
Do you have a pile of books you have been meaning to read? A baby book that needs to be updated (for the past 3 years)? A trail you have been wanting to explore?
This is your time to do the non computer-centric items that you have been putting off for however long — and I can tell you that some of the items I have been putting off were from before delivering my son in January of 2018!
Maybe March 5-6, 2021 will not work for your already scheduled life, that's okay! I want to encourage you to schedule out your 24 + hour break to put down the phone, turn off the notifications, and enjoy.
What are some non-screen activities you are already thinking of? Send us a quick email and I can be your accountability partner!
