Your Top Strengths
I love a good personality test. They’re a good way to find out love languages and different tools we can use to not only learn more about ourselves and how we tend to operate, but also those around us.
Most of my friends know I am loving the enneagram. I’m a Type Two — not a shocker there! Twos are the helper, the supporter, but it’s not all roses. For me, knowing someone’s enneagram opens a whole conversation that’s fun when everyone’s excited about it.
I love enneagram. I love hearing about it, talking about it, learning about it, and using those tools. Something that was asked of me recently in a consult was: What are my top strengths via StrengthsFinder. Some of you know, there’s 34 different types, and you find your top five types.
I did it ages ago. I pulled it up and thought it would be fun to share with you. It reaffirmed the business that I have and what I do, because i tend to go this route.
My Top Five Strengths
My top strength is problem solver. In fact, when things are breaking down, especially business-wise, I’m the one turning to find the solution and solve the problem.
The second one is strategist. I love seeing the big picture but also knowing how things connect.
My other three are kind of interesting. It makes sense to me, but it’s interesting to see again.
The third is time keeper, or setting timelines and deadlines. “Because of your dislike of surprises, you love to plan.” If you don’t know anything else about me, know that. I don’t really like surprises for me, just planning and keeping a big surprise for anyone else. My oldest Noah is the same way.
“You don’t necessarily need to control everyone, but there must be order and predictability in the world around you.” I like to say I can be spontaneous, but I have to have the plan. I can change direction and jump into new things on a dime as long as I have an idea of what’s happening.
The next strength is self-believer. I bring a lot of confidence to what I do and to the people around me. I tend to look on the positive side of things a lot.
The last strength is empathizer. That is sometimes to my downfall because a lot of times I equate the sympathy part with empathy, and you can’t blur those lines too much. Then, you start to center yourself, and that’s no good.
Those are my top 5 strengths. Pulling it back up reaffirms what I do and how I operate. Finding out what your strengths are will help you. At the very least, knowing your strengths will guide you.
It also helps you find out what you are great at. Whether we’re talking business or personal, that would align with things that would fill you up and get you doing.
As I pulled up the report again, it hit the nail on the head that putting those things forward and understanding what I’m not good at — like surprises — there are certain things someone may be better at.
If I’m a problem solver, and someone just needs a listening ear, I go into problem-solving mode. I’m a good listener, but I’m thinking about how to fix the problem. That’s definitely my Type Two coming out!
There are other people who can be my network and help with those other pieces.
